Abstract

The incidence and distribution of the rice Stripe Necrosis Virus (RSNV) has carried out through the analysis of samples with typical symptoms of the "entorchamiento" during the second semester of the 2000 in the laboratories of IDIAP and plant protection of MIDA. The samples obtained in rice producing areas of Chiriqui, Veraguas, Herrera, Los Santos, Cocle and Panama, were analyzed by detection of cistosores of the fungal vector and DAS-ELISA test. The results indicate that the disease is present in all rice growing areas sampled. The comparison of mean samples with the presence of cistosores in the roots and the samples with positive reaction to ELISA test by means of the "t" student test indicates that statistical differences don't exist among them to 99% of probability. The diagnosis of the RSNV through the detection of the structures of resistance of the fungal vector is reliable as the ELISA test.
